Jirang FPC Inaugurates Meghalaya’s First Aseptic Pulping and Mandarin Processing Unit

The Jirang Organic Agro Farmer Producer Company (Jirang FPC), well known for successfully exporting Khasi Mandarin to Dubai, has now achieved another milestone with the inauguration of Meghalaya’s First Aseptic Pulping Unit and Mandarin Sorting, Grading & Waxing Unit. The facility, set up at Jirang village in Ri Bhoi District at a cost of ₹1.5 crore, will enable large-scale production of fruit pulp and processed fruit products.
The new unit was officially inaugurated today by Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, in the presence of Shri Sosthenes Sohtun, MLA Jirang, Shri Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Ri Bhoi, Smt. Ibalahun Thangkhiew, CEO Jirang FPC, officials from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, community leaders, and local farmers.
The facility is equipped with modern infrastructure for storage, pulping, and value-addition of fruits before they are supplied to different markets. This initiative will allow farmers to process and market a variety of agricultural produce, including Khasi Mandarin, pineapple, banana, ginger, and other crops, at fair prices, providing direct economic benefits to farmers across the Jirang region.
Founded in 2017, Jirang FPC currently has around 434 farmer-members. The company has also entered into a collaboration with Lulu Group International to facilitate smooth supply and distribution of its products both within India and to international markets.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh expressed her delight in joining the farming community to celebrate this landmark achievement. She emphasized that the new unit will not only empower farmers but also contribute significantly to agricultural growth and economic development in South Ri Bhoi.
On the same day, the Minister, who also holds the Health portfolio, inaugurated a new Labor Room at Patharkhmah Community Health Centre (CHC). She interacted with healthcare staff, encouraging them to continue their dedicated service to the community. Additionally, she inaugurated a new power generator for the CHC, provided under the DC Connect initiative by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.
