About US
The Meghalaya Natural and Organic Farming Society for Livelihood and Innovation in Agriculture (MEGNOLIA) serves as the apex body under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya. Established under the Meghalaya State Organic and Natural Farming Policy 2023, MEGNOLIA is mandated to coordinate, implement, and monitor all activities related to organic and natural farming across the state.
MEGNOLIA - Mandate

Facilitate policy implementation across departments and stakeholders.

Strengthen institutional architecture for organic and natural farming.

Act as a bridge between government, farmers, and markets.

Enable livelihood promotion through innovation in organic and natural agriculture.
Structurally, it functions as a state-level umbrella organization bringing together government departments, research institutions, cooperatives, and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to facilitate an integrated approach toward certification, training, investment, and market linkage. It also works in close alignment with key initiatives such as the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCDNER) and the State Organic Mission, ensuring coherence among central, state, and externally aided projects for organic transformation.
Its mission is to facilitate Meghalaya’s transition to organic and natural farming by building farmer capacity, enhancing access to finance and certification, and promoting sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural practices. The vision of MEGNOLIA is to transform Meghalaya into a leading hub for organic and natural farming, fostering sustainable livelihoods, ecological resilience, and global competitiveness through innovation, fair trade, and eco-friendly farming systems.
