MEGNOLIA showcases Meghalaya’s organic produce at BIOFACH India

Taking Meghalaya’s organic produce to a wider platform, MEGNOLIA brought six farmers, three of whom were from the Sustainable Land Management Meghalaya (SLM) project under KfW, supported by MEGNOLIA, to BIOFACH India, held from 6–8 August at IEML, Greater Noida. The participation marked an important step in connecting Meghalaya’s organically grown produce with wider national and international markets. Together, they showcased locally grown and processed products, including Lakadong Turmeric, ginger, black and white sticky rice, black and green tea, pineapple, cinnamon, Bird’s Eye Chilli and black pepper. The MEGNOLIA kiosk welcomed Shri Abhishek Dev, IAS, Chairman, APEDA; Shri R. Nainamalai, IFS, Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Department, GOM; Shri Katikithala Srinivas, IAS, Secretary, MDoNER, GOI; and Shri Nitin Yadav, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, GOI, along with MEGNOLIA representatives Shri Maqbool L. Suiam, CAO, and Smti D. Barishisha Mukhim, COO, and other officials. Team MEGNOLIA also interacted with international buyers with support from IFOAM Organics Asia, including Jennifer Chang, Executive Director, IFOAM Organics Asia, who expressed interest in Meghalaya’s pineapple, spices and other organic produce. The participation highlighted Meghalaya’s agricultural diversity and the growing potential of its farmers and organic produce in wider markets.
