The Meghalaya Natural & Organic Farming Society for Livelihood & Innovation in Agriculture is the State’s apex body driving organic transformation and climate-resilient agriculture.
The inaugural ceremony of the 1st Northeast India Organic Week and the 4th World Organic Youth Summit was held on 29th November 2025, bringing together delegations from 13 countries, youth leaders, buyers, and key stakeholders from across the organic sector.
The session opened with the Welcome Address by Dr. Saswati Bose, General Manager, APEDA, followed by an address from Ms. Jennifer Chang, Executive Director, IFOAM Asia, and a presentation on the 8th Revision of NPOP by Dr. Bose.
Ms. Priyanka Uday, Associate Director, CRISIL, presented “Meghalaya — A Growing Powerhouse in India’s Organic Sector,” after which Mr. Brendan Hoare, Adviser, IFOAM-Organics Asia spoke and Shri. Abhishek Dev, IAS, Chairman, APEDA, addressed the gathering.
Further remarks were delivered by Dr. Vijay Kumar D., IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Agriculture Department, Government of Meghalaya, along with Shri. Satinder Kumar Bhalla, ITS, Secretary, North Eastern Council
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Saloni Verma, IAS, Deputy Secretary, Agriculture Department, followed by the inauguration of the exhibition area. A strong start to a week dedicated to collaboration, organic excellence, and international partnership.
